The parts of By Dawn other people would want, published under Apache-2.0. We run every one of them every night, from the same public copy you install. We don’t keep a private copy. When we fix it, you get the fix.

01seawall

The promise: The relay can’t read it.
What it is: End-to-end encrypted content frames: seal and open, with twin Go and TypeScript implementations, golden test vectors and a written spec.
Used in By Dawn: Every ticket, plan and comment that crosses the relay between your machines and the board. We’re moving it out of By Dawn now; this page updates with its first release.

02tideline

The promise: Markdown, there and back.
What it is: Lossless Markdown to Tiptap 3 and back, byte for byte, with a three-way merge that tells you plainly where two edits collide.

The promise: Working, or asking?
What it is: Reads a coding agent’s terminal and says whether it is idle, working or waiting on a question. Claude Code and Codex.

04lagoon

The promise: Nothing slips out.
What it is: Agent process containment: no child process outlives the agent session that started it, with cgroup v2 and session tags.
Used in By Dawn: Every agent session on every machine, so a finished night leaves nothing running behind it. We’re moving it out of By Dawn now; this page updates with its first release.

—How we publish

One copy, never two. The public repository is the only source. By Dawn installs each package at a pinned version, like anyone else, and the change that switches us over deletes our internal copy in the same step.

Contributions land upstream. Issues and pull requests go to the public repository. We review them there, and By Dawn picks them up with the next release.

Every release is built in CI and published with provenance, so you can check that what you installed came from the public repository. Found a security problem? Report it privately from the repository’s Security tab.
