Memory
Memory that knows when it applies.
The rules that matter get written down as short notes, and each note says when an agent should use it. A ticket gets the notes that fit it, and you can see how many tickets each note has reached.
Notes
Rules, concepts and decisions.
Three kinds of note, each with a trigger.
- Three kindsRules say what to do, concepts explain how something works, and decisions record what was chosen and why. Decisions are append-only: you supersede them, never rewrite them.
- Each with a triggerA note says when an agent should apply it, so it reaches the tickets it fits instead of every ticket.
Served to the work
Each ticket gets the notes that fit it.
Nothing to configure.
- How notes reach a ticketEach ticket gets the org’s notes, its project’s notes and the notes pinned to its repos. The narrowest notes come first, and org-wide notes are never dropped.
- MeasuredEach time a note reaches a ticket, it’s recorded. You can see how many tickets a note has reached and how many notes your agents are using.
- Personal notesA note can be yours alone: only you see it, and it reaches only your runs.
Approved and healthy
Nothing reaches an agent unapproved.
Agents can propose notes. People decide.
- Agents propose, people approveA note an agent proposes reaches no one until a person approves it. Agents are told that proposing nothing is a good outcome.
- A health checkAn automatic check finds links to missing notes, orphaned notes, possible duplicates and one-way links.
- Docs and memory togetherTurn any paragraph of a page into a rule, or promote a note into a page of its own.
How it works
How memory reaches a run
- WriteA person writes a note, or approves one an agent proposed.
- MatchEach ticket gets the org, project and repo notes that fit.
- ServeThe notes land in the run’s context.
- MeasureEach note that reaches a run is counted.
Questions
Asked about memory.
What’s the difference between docs and memory?
Docs are the long pages. Memory is the short notes those pages point to, each with a trigger, served to the tickets they fit.
Can an agent add memory?
It can propose a note. The note reaches no one until a person approves it.
